INTERMEDIATE HANDGUN

Our intermediate handgun class is designed for students looking to improve their skills in manipulation and mechanics of semi automatic handguns.

Prerequisites for this class would be our basic handgun class or equivalent training and at aleast 1 private lesson with a Threat Dynamics instructor or equivalent training.

We keep the student to instructor ratio low in this course which means lots of one-on-one instruction.

Supplies would include your own handgun, 2 magazines, ear and eye protection, and 50 rounds of ammunition. Note paper is provided, bringing a notebook is optional. If you do not own a handgun, please let a staff member know at check-in, one can be selected free of charge for use of class.

CLASS CURRICULUM

This class has 3 main training goals:

Focus on how to handle firearms safely on and off the range to conform to any shooting range’s policies and procedures. We sometimes see these procedures done incorrectly on our love fire range and want to make sure students lear the proper way.

Have the trainees go through formalized shooting instruction to achieve precise accuracy with our highly skilled Threat Dynamics Instructors. This insturction will take place on our state-of-the-art firearms simulator and on our 22 yard indoor shooting range.

Familiarize the students with multiple handgun platforms. This will also help the trainee in the process of selecting a personal firearm if they plan to purchase one in the future. In addition to the simulator shooting training, each trainee will shoot live fire firearms including a Glock 17 (9mm), a Glock 42/43 (.380 auto/9mm), a Ruger 22/45 lite (.22LR), and a Taurus Tracker Revolver (.22LR).

CLASS AGENDA

HOUR 1

Class starts in the Threat Dynamics Academy with range safety rules, outlining keys for not violating firearm safety rules or range procedures, brief overview of loading and clearing and dealing with handgun malfunctions.

SHORT BREAK

HOUR 2

Time to become a sharpshooter! Shooting on our Threat Alley Simulator is a perfect way to build the fundamentals of handgun safety and shooting. Each shooter will work on grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger press, and shot recovery.

HOUR 3

Students proceed to the live fire range and each trainee will shoot a variety of guns and calibers.

This class if offered once a month. Max class size is limited to 16 students.

Advanced Handgun

4 Hours Course

This course combines the skills and practices gained in our first two courses (or equivalent training) to round out the trainee as an educated firearm owner, buyer, and marksman. The completion of this Advanced Handgun course paves the way to becoming a well-prepared citizen ready for self-defense training advancement. 

Objectives:

·         Advanced marksmanship techniques, griping, two-eyes open shooting, repeat fire grouping, handgun handling. 

·         Build your skills via:
Continued Ed., Sims, VR, Dry Drills, Private Instruction, and Live Fire Training.

This class teaches the most up-to-date training approved by the Department of Defense and the US College of Surgeons on bleeding control and immediate trauma response.

We will cover scene security and safety, tourniquet application, chest seals, wound packing, equipment selection, everyday carry considerations, and much more—all while emphasizing keeping things simple in stressful situations. 

Whether you are brand new or have taken first aid or trauma medicine classes in the past, this course is for you.

Students will receive a certified STOP THE BLEED class training certificate upon completion of this course.

THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR SHOOTERS THAT HAVE A CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT, AND ARE INTERESTED IN IN-HOME DEFENSE OR OUT OF THE HOME PERSONAL PROTECTION. Our AR-15 Rifles/Carbines is a great way to begin your formal education. This class is great for the beginner shooter or for shooters that simply want more formal training. Whether you would like to hunt, practice precision rifle shooting, or simply become more familiar with the ever-popular modern sporting rifle, this is the class for you.

Students wishing to bring in rifles other than an AR-15 please understand that we will only be covering the AR platform. However, there are many parallels of this system that relate to other platforms like the AK-47 and Bullpup designs. All specific questions for other platforms will need to be diverted to a private instruction.

Have you ever wanted to shoot your carbine like the Pros? This class is the next step to becoming the AR-style operator you always wanted to be!

This course is designed for students looking to better their accuracy by perfecting the body mechanics of shooting and manipulating the AR platform in a dynamic setting. It will involve a brief classroom session with a more extensive live fire session to follow.

PREREQUISITES

Must have completed Basic Intro to ARs or equivalent training with a signed certificate.

• The Trainee has shot at least 500 rounds in the past 12 months.

• The shooter has self demonstrated the ability to shoot approximately 45/50 rounds into an 8” group @ 10 yards from the unsupported standing position. If you cannot do this yet then it is advised to schedule a Private Instruction with one of our Firearms Instructors.

LIVE FIRE PRACTICAL EXERCISE

• Shooting for accuracy

• Shooting and reloading while in motion

• Contacting drills from various firing positions

• Malfunction drills

• Engagement in various types of defensive situations

• Environmental factors including low light / no light

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

• AR-15 Style Rifle (.308 calibers & below) Must be in a case to enter the facility. Rentals are available, but limited, so please call in advance if you plan to rent.

• Ideally, this rifle is one that the trainee has experience with and is a good fit for the individual.

• Short barrel rifles MUST be suppressed to cut down on noise to hear Instructor commands. Rental suppressors are available by request in advance. Call if you have questions about this.

• Slings are required. Slings must be able to hold the Rifle at no more than a 12” circle from the trainee's feet.

• 125 rounds of ammunition (please bring some, if not some will be available for purchase.)

• 3 Magazines minimum

• Mag carrier or some way to retain those magazines.

• Sturdy belt if using a mag carrier

• Eye & Ear protection

• Close-toed shoes

• An empty cup, and ready to learn
