Northwest Regional Training Facility

nwrtf_mapThe Northwest Regional Training Facility, located at 8250 SW Tonka Rd Tualatin, OR (Portland metro area), has several environments you can utilize for training. Following is a description of the facilities.

Reception Area

  • This has a lounge area, coffee area, lockers and a bathroom.

Classroom

  • Specs: Seating for 50, a podium with wall-mounted LCD screen with DVD player/projector, and a whiteboard are in this 48 x 36 foot room.
  • Capacity: 50 people plus instructors.
  • Uses: Some uses for this room are pre-training orientation, classroom education, demonstrations, and post-training analysis and debriefing.

Threat Alley HD Room

  • Specs: Two Threat Alley HD screens (10 x 12 feet) plus projector and speakers, and instructor/operator desk are in this 28 x 52 foot room.
  • Capacity: Up to four officers per screen for a total of eight at one time in this room.
  • Uses: Everything from TASER training, scenario shoots, target practice, qualifying practice. Over 110 target, fully immersive and real-time alterable scenarios for your training purposes.
  • Weapons: Duty weapon, AR-15, Shotgun, TASER, OC spray.

Threat Arena HD Room

  • Specs: This 72 x 40 room houses the Threat Arena HD unit, which consists of five 10 x 10 screens with surround sound speakers mounted behind them providing 300 degrees of 10-foot-tall threat immersion. The screens, and officers, are on a sound stage which conveys vibration and other sensory information. Behind the officers, in the space not covered by the screen, is the instructor/operator desk at which the training officer can tell the operator to change in real-time what his personnel are facing.
  • Capacity: Up to six officers at one time plus patrol vehicle, or armored response or tactical response vehicle.
  • Uses: This is the “crown jewel” of the facility in terms of immersive training. The
  • 300-degree environment means threats from all directions, not just threats from in front. It currently has 75 fully immersive and completely real-time-alterable scenarios for your training purposes.
  • Weapons: Duty weapon, AR-15, Shotgun, TASER, OC spray.
